Soldiers Kill Civilian In Lagos As They Open Fire On Police

Soldiers attached to the Ojo Cantonment of the Nigerian Army, Thursday shot a policeman attached to the FESTAC Police Division and a civilian.

The soldiers were part of the troops that were deployed to the 7th Avenue area of FESTAC Town to stop the notorious pipeline vandals who had been wreaking havoc in the area.
According to Per Second News, the incident was instigated by a two-man robbery gang, who had accosted a bank customer.
It was gathered that the bank customer was leaving the bank when the robbers snatched his money and fled on a motorcycle.
Some passersby alerted the police and they went after the thieves using a commercial vehicle. The soldiers reportedly shot at the vehicle, killing the driver, identified by Fola Fawole, instantly.
Another security official named Mohammed Idris was shot in the right eye, while a police officer, identified as Mohammed Adamu, was also shot.
Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Jospeh Offor, confirmed the incident.
