CBN now to allocate forex to end users

to end-users, with priority given to matured Letters of Credit,

2016 Budget: FG to spend N221.7bn on health sector
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said N221.7 billion would be
spent on health sector in 2016 as part of the initiative to improve the
health care delivery to Nigerians. Buhari said this while presenting the
2016 budget to the joint National Assembly session in Abuja. He said
that N369.6 billion was set aside for education sector as against N294.5
billion earmarked for defence, while the Ministry of Interior would
receive N145.3 billion.

NERC unveils new electricity tariff, abolishes fixed charge
The National Electricity Regulation Commission, NERC, on Monday,
unveiled a new increment of average of N9.00 electricity tariff for all
classes of consumers of the product, which will become effective from
the next billing period, just as it also, announced the abolition of the
contentious fixed charges for all electricity consumers.
In the new tariff regime for instance, residential customer classification (R2) in Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will no longer pay N702.00 fixed charge every month. Their energy charge will increase by N9.60. Also, residential customers (R2 customers) in Eko and Ikeja electricity distribution areas will no longer pay N750. 00 fixed charges.
