Newcastle United have completed the signing agreed a £12m fee with Swansea City to sign England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
The
23-year-old underwent a medical at St James' Park before a deal was
completed on Tuesday between the Premier League relegation rivals.
The former Liverpool midfielder who joined Swansea in July 2013, but left after falling out with interim boss, Alan Curtis.
At Newcastle, former England manager Steve McClaren who is the coach has told Shelvy that he will be used at the heart of the midfield.
Shelvey cut a lonely and frustrated figure at Swansea
and was recently blamed by fans after their shock 3-2 FA Cup defeat to
League Two Oxford on Sunday, January 10.
He has started just three Premier League games since October and was not part of the squad for the recent matches against Leicester, Manchester City and Manchester United.
